Press Release May 2021

Flint, MI -- Following two rounds of interviews, the Board of Education for Beecher Community Schools has made a unanimous decision on who will lead the school district as its next Superintendent. Board members stated their goal was to select a candidate with successful administrative experiences who would build strong relationships with staff and students and lead the restructuring of the District’s academic program which should include more guidance and opportunities for high school students to successfully transition into post-high school career pathways, training, or college.
After careful consideration, the Board of Education selected Richard Klee, Ph.D. as the next Superintendent of Beecher Community Schools. Dr. Klee has served as a public school administrator for 15 years and holds a Doctorate in Science Education. He is currently the Principal of Taylor High School where he leads a student body of 1,500 young people. Klee has successfully supported school bond initiatives and has negotiated several contracts with various union groups. He has also implemented many unique and creative programs to benefit all styles of learners.
Before becoming the Principal of Taylor High School, Dr. Klee served as a middle school Principal for Dearborn Public Schools. He was also an elementary school Principal, Curriculum Director, State and Federal Programs Director, as well as Interim Superintendent for the Crestwood School District.
Dr. Klee considers leading curriculum review and academic improvement among his strengths. He said he is eager to begin his work as Superintendent of Beecher Community Schools in June. Klee was selected for the role out of 17 educators who applied for the position. The District’s current Superintendent, Dr. Marcus Davenport, announced his resignation earlier this year.
Michigan Leadership Institute (MLI) is pleased to have assisted the Board of Education for Beecher Community Schools in the successful search for its next Superintendent.
